Hi, dear instructors!

I am seeking new methods to remember words much better. For a long time, I have been trying to remember new words better by writing sentences with these new words. For instance, today I have met some new words and read these words several times, and tomorrow I am going to write sentences with those words. However, I reckon that I lose a lot of time for creating sentences, and I assume that such way of remembering words isn't so beneficial for me, and I don't find this way so useful. As it is very major item for me, I decided to consult you about this issue. Please, help me to find new ways to remember word much more effectively?

Thanks in advance!

I really liked a new mothed to remember and use the new word , thanks.

Hello Abbas Eli,

I think different people have different learning styles, and what helps one learner to retain what they have learned does not necessarily help another. That said, in general I think trying to actively use new words is a good idea for most users. I recommend keeping a vocabulary notebook, ideally organised by topic, and using it to revise and review new items regularly. That might involve writing sentences with the words, or it might mean trying to use them in sentences, or alternatively just testing your memory of the meaning in a traditional test. You need to experiment with different approaches and identify what works best for you.

I hope those ideas are helpful.

Best wishes,

hi sir,,,,,,
unfortunatly my english is very weak,,,,even here, for everyone speaking english is hard, although we have much vocablary, and after that we cannot speak english.....
sir,how can we improve our speaking, reading, writing and listning......??

Hi Mohammad,

Well, when you ask how to improve your speaking, reading, writing and listening, you are really asking how to improve your English in general. That's what LearnEnglish is all about, so I hope you can find some answers here.

It's hard to give you any specific advice, because I don't know anything about your strengths and weaknesses in English, but if you have good vocabulary and still find speaking difficult, it may be just that you need to practise more. Speaking is a skill that will benefit from a little practice every day, even if you just talk to yourself as you walk along the street.

Best wishes,

Many thanks Mr. Peter. Yes, I agree with you that method ,used by one individual, doesn't always help others, and I am going to experiment new methods of remembering words.

Sincerely,

Abbas
